On Barbers, Burning Hands & Baseball
20 October 2004 | filed under GeneralOn Barbers: So I went to get a haircut yesterday (ok, not by a barber but it started with a ‘B’ so…) at Pyramid Mall, the Regis Salon. I am attempting to grow out my hair a little, so I requested the hairdresser simply help out the shape a bit, you know, so it’s good to grow. I suggested she do a razor cut, since I thought it would help things look choppy which I like. As for her, she had quite a flipped-out hairdo and she asked if that was what I wanted because, she said, that’s what a razor cut will produce. I said no, not so flippy, but she went ahead with the razor cut anyway? The cut took about 15 minutes to do. All she did was follow the lines of my previous cut, not adjust the style in any way. This might have been fine, but I did ask for some change, and the last haircut I had was done by ME. Let’s just say it had it’s flaws. Of course I left the salon with the back of my hair flipped out.
On Burning Hands: While preparing a VERY hot & spicy Jamaican Jerk marinade recipe, I was wary of handling the scotch bonnet peppers, since I knew if I did it would cause problems. They are 5 times hotter than jalapenos. Apparently even minimal handling (ie. cutting off the stem) can set your hands aflame, as mine have been throughout the day. I’ve washed them 6-8 times and they are still entirely stinging. This diverted me from putting in the contact lenses today, and as well from picking my nose. Hassles!
On Baseball: Tonight is game 7 in the series between the Yankees and the Red Sox. Haven’t payed attention to baseball since the Blue Jays won the World Series in 1993. I started out rooting for the Yankees, because we live in the state and, well, they were winning. :O) But the Red Sox are growing on me since they’ve now bounced from a 3-0 game lead and haven’t won a pennant since 1918. Also, our neighbour is cheering them on, as is evident when they score a run and he yells YES! So the perpetual underdog has a chance to head into the World Series if they win tonight. Could be cool.
On Beer: Oh, that wasn’t in the title, was it? teehee. Beer is cheap here. A 12-case of microbrewed honey brown lager costs $7.99 at the grocery store. A cold beer could help to cure the burning hands, make me forget about the lame haircut, AND compliment the sporting events this evening. Nice!

let’s see the haircut! ;)
